Discord Communities Coming To PlayStation 5 In 2022

Today, Sony has announced that next year will see a new partnership of PlayStation and the community platform, Discord. In a blog post on their website today, Sony European boss Jim Ryan says he believed the partnership will pave the way to “enable players around the world to connect with one another”.

While it’ll be next year before this is something we can play with, Ryan said both Sony and Discord “are already hard at work connecting Discord with your social and gaming experience on PlayStation Network. Our goal is to bring the Discord and PlayStation experiences closer together on console and mobile starting early next year, allowing friends, groups, and communities to hang out, have fun, and communicate more easily while playing games together”.

With over 140 million active users every month, Discord integration will be a significant step for the console claiming to be “for the players”.

If you want to get up and running on Discord, we’ve just soft-launched our own Discord for all your tech chat needs. Come on in and say hi!
