Here at Goosed.ie, we love seeing Irish innovation at its finest, and a.chara is a prime example of a startup using tech for good. Founded by two Cork lads, Reece and Sam, a.chara is dedicated to helping caregivers navigate the challenges of looking after loved ones with dementia. The inspiration behind a.chara is deeply personal—both co-founders have experienced the difficulties of caring for their grandmothers, and they’re using that experience to drive meaningful change in dementia care.
What is A.chara?
A.chara is an evidence-based smartphone solution that makes life easier for caregivers, family members, and healthcare professionals looking after individuals with dementia. This platform helps everyone involved to monitor, document, and share key health and behavioral insights, ensuring that those living with dementia get the timely interventions they need. It’s all about reducing the guesswork, improving care, and easing the emotional burden on families and caregivers. If you have ever had someone in your family diagnosed with dementia or similar conditions you would understand the stress, difficulty and overall care that is required, so anything that relieves even 1% off the stress is always super welcome. Having cross paths with the guys at a range of events such as Dublin Tech Summit, or the NDRC Events, I’m really looking forward to seeing where the company goes, but for today it ain’t about the product it’s about something great the guys are doing for the North Cork Dementia Alliance.
