Your Definitive Price Guide for the New iPhone 8, 8 Plus and iPhone X

After months of speculation, rumours and leaks, Apple’s 10 year anniversary iPhone X is here. So now that we finally have the low down on the new iPhone 8, 8 Plus and X, the net question is ‘How do we get our hands on one?’ Well, Ireland’s networks have released their prices. And they’re a bit steep.

When can we get one?

So the new models haven’t actually been released yet, but they are available to pre-order. Although it seems as of right now the only place you can pre-order the models are on Three, the Carphone Warehouse and from the Apple Store themselves. Apple seems top be the only one at the moment offering the models on pre-pay.

Apple

If you were to go directly from Apple, you’ll be getting an unlocked model, which could set you back a bit more than the locked network models.

An iPhone 8 64GB will set you back €829 while the 256GB will set you back €999.

An iPhone 8 Plus 64GB will start at €939 and the 256GB will be a month’s rent for a nice apartment in Dublin at €1109.

An iPhone X take things to another level altogether. Starting out at what is a pitiful 64GB for the price of €1179 and rising to an eye-watering €1349 for the 256GB model.

So now that we’ve established that we will not be going with pay as you go prices through Apple, let’s move on to what the networks are offering.

Vodafone

No pre pay prices have been announced yet on the new models so let’s cut to the chase.

No word yet on prices on the iPhone X, but based on the prices we’ve seen so far, they’re set to be high so you might want to start saving.

Three

Three work a bit differently. If you are getting a new contract, there will be an up front cost. But their upgrades go off of how long you have been a Three customer on contract. Their upgrades go from A-F  . A being the most expensive up front payment and F being the cheapest. It’s also worth noting Three are the only network that provide unlimited data which can be the difference between going with them and any other network as data fees can be very expensive if you go over.

Again no X prices but we’ll keep you posted!

Our recommendation would be the iPhone 8 64GB on €45/month. If you can get past the smaller screen and no bokeh effect on the camera, the iPhone 8 is just as good as the plus. As an iPhone 7 user, I love it. After 5 months of non-stop use it never glitches and I can only imagine the new A11 Bionic chip will be able to handle even more stress. The only drawback is the 64GB storage. But if you are good at managing cloud storage you should be able to get passed it.

Make sure to keep an eye on our Facebook page for updates on the iPhone X network pricing soon.
